 OSA Meeting Minimize

The 2010 organizational meeting for the Oconomowoc Softball Assocation will be held Wednesday, March 24. Decisions will be made by voting of the present ball players as it is every year. There will be discussion about what softball to use and more.

The meeting will be held at the Oconomowoc Recreation Center located on West Wisconsin Avenue - "City Beach" - at 7 p.m.

 OHS cagers season over Minimize

Playing in the first round of the WIAA regional boys basketbnll tournament the Chargers from Sussex Hamilton ended Cooney's season 47-38.

The Chargers jumped out to a 20-16 halftime lead and then never trailed. Charger Brett Meinecke led all scorers with 15 points while Cooney senior Paul Williams led the Raccoons as he netted 12 points.

 Raccoons darken Suns Minimize

The Oconomowoc High School boys basketball team easily defeated the West Bend East Suns as they amassed 58 points while giving up only 33.

The Raccoons outscored the Suns 17-4 in the first eight minutes and then continued to pour it on. Senior Tanner Wensman led all sorers as he netted 20 points.

WLT leading Wisco outscored the Raccoons 17-7 in the first quarter and Oconomowoc could never catch up. The Vikings went on to win 69-58

 Lightning and Raccoons girls win Minimize

March 9, 2010

The varsity girls basketball teams from Oconomowoc and Lake Country Lutheran High Schools won their respective Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association regional games Tuesday night.

Lightning downed Hustisford 57-28 with senior point guard Rachel Kruk scoring 14 points and senior forward Emily Dufek adding 13.

Cooney sophomore Mandy Prom netted 19 points while junior Kendra Brooks totaled 16 on the night.

The Lightning will host Fall River at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 11 and the Raccoons travel to Mukwonago to battle the Indians on Saturday, March 13 at 1:30 p.m.

With the win over Kenosha Christian Life the Lake Country Lutheran High School girls varsity basketball team assured themselves of a tie for the league championship. The win boosted Lightning's record to 14-1 with one game remaining. A win earns them the Midwest Classic North championship outright.

The Lake Country Lutheran varsity girls basketball team continued to cruise as they held St. Joan Antida to single digits in three of four quarters. Senior forward Emily Dufek led all scorers with 20 points.

 Lightning girls win another Minimize

The Lake Country Lutheran girls basketball team continued to roll as they bested the Racine Lutheran Crusaders 55-43.

Lightning was led by senior Emily Dufek who netted 29 points and she had 10 rebounds. Senior Emily Warnke also had 10 rebounds and senior guard Rachel Kruk did a great job of running the offense.

Lightning is no 12-1 in the Midwest Classic North Conference.

 Lightning girls in FIRST place Minimize

The Lightning girls varsity basketball team never trailed as they took sole possession of first place by downing Wayland Academy 54-49. The teams went into the battle with identical record, both with a single loss.

Lightning was led by senior Emily Dufek who scored a game high 24 poiints. The 5-feet-9 forward has the second highest average in the state according the Milwaukee Journal/Sentinal.

 Big finish produces win Minimize

A big fourth quarter and some excellent free throw shooting put the Oconomowoc varsity basketball game in the win column as they downed the Slinger Owls 53-45.

Senior Paul Williams led all scorers with 23 points and junior Ryan Prom netted 13 points. The two Raccoons had a combined 22 free throws of which they converted 18 of them. The win put Cooney at 9 wins and 9 losses and they are 6-5 in Wisconsin Little Ten action.
